I've tasted the rainbow
I've tasted the rainbow!
I felt the rain and I cried.
Cold, dark and dull,
I thought I wanted to die.
I believed the heavy overcast.
Maybe not fully, as I kept looking for a sign
as if I knew the spell wouldn't last,
as if I knew the rainbow could be mine.
I felt it even before I knew it.
No leprechauns, no pot of gold,
but a promise right before I quit,
daring me to see beyond the cold.
I've tasted the rainbow
not because I'd chased it, which I did,
but because I learned to let go of control.
